These are two of my pastel pieces which are currently on exhibit in the Newington Art League Members Show in the Community Room at the Lucy Robbins Welles Library, 131 Cedar St. in Newington. This show will be up until the end of November.
The show is a very nice exhibit of the work of my fellow Newington Art League members offering paintings and photos of many subjects in a variety of media.
I recently came across this lovely photo of a garden shed. I was taken with the little scene of the pink and white flowers contrasted against the deep shade created by the trees behind them and inspired to paint it. The little window with its red paint and the open door on the shed just made it that much more interesting.
On a drive along a river I was struck by the cool tranquility of this scene. It was a hot summer day and I found the cool shade under the tree with the ice blue water and shimmering reflections of the trees inspiring. I stopped to take a number of photos and once back in my studio, painted the scene in oil.
