April Art Show Third Place Winner

Parked – oil pastel

This is an oil pastel painting of two rusty jeeps parked along route 154 in CT that I had driven pass many times on my way to and from Chester, CT. There was something about them, the two of them rusting together, a sense that they shared a history together that I found very appealing.

I don’t use oil pastel often, but they were what I had with me at the time so I gave them a try. The paper was a toned grey which I think adds to the piece. I found a mat and a nice aged grey frame for it and entered in my local Newington Art League show and much to my surprise, it won the 3rd place award. Here it is matted and framed.
